Advertencia: No voy a fastidiarte la pelicula pero el siguiente texto contiene descripciones de escenas o diálogos que podrías preferir no conocer antes de ver la peli.
Dicho ésto voy a intentar escribir mi primer artículo, aunque esto que escribo lo escribo cuando el resto ya está casi escrito, milagros de la tecnología.
Ghost world trata sobre la vida de Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson) y Enid (Thora Birch) en las semanas que siguen a su graduación en el instituto. Inmersas en pleno paso a la edad adulta ambas son las raras de la clase y viven al margen. Tienen una visión particular y crítica de todo: del instituto, de la musica, del trabajo… Mientras la mayoría de sus compañeros irán a la universidad a estudiar carreras tan interesantes como empresariales, ellas los miran con desdén y se dedicarán a hacer… otras cosas. Sin embargo las dos amigas coinciden menos de lo que aparentan, mientras Rebecca tiene alguna meta, busca conseguir cualquier trabajo que le permita independizarse, Enid es corrosiva hacia casi todo lo que le pasa cerca, lo que no la ayuda demasiado a integrarse o a mantener algún trabajo.
A ambas les gusta gastar bromas a los demás y en una de ellas elijen como objetivo a Seymur (Steve Buscemi), un cuarentón desconocido que resulta ser otro (auto)excluido social. Seymour es totalmente negado para las relaciones y dedica su vida a coleccionar obsesivamente vinilos imprescindibles de 78rpm entre otras antiguallas -Nota pedante: En el doblaje creo que dicen vinilos del año 78 pero me parece que se refiere a vinilos de 78 rpm- Tras comprarle un disco a Seymour en su rastrillo, Enid comienza a admirarlo y establece amistad con él mientras se separa poco a poco de Rebecca, que opina que ese tipo aburrido no tiene nada de guay, y de sus planes comunes.
La pelicula es genial en su totalidad y el arranque es divertidisimo: Un video de musica rock&roll indio de los 70 con un coro de bailarines enmascarados danzando una coreografía frenética donde la bailarina principal parece que vaya a desarmarse en un ataque epiléptico. Estas imágenes se intercalan con las de los exteriores de un barrio residencial, a traves de cuyas ventanas vamos contemplando las aburridas vidas del ciudadano medio cenando y viendo la tele. Ambas secuencias coinciden en la habitación donde Enid baila imitando la coreografía del video.
En este blog [tu nunca serás beatnik] me entero de que el baile pertenece a una escena de la pelicula Bollywoodiense Gumnaan de 1966, que si tiene al menos un par de momentos similares a los del video mercerá la pena buscar.
Por las vidas de las dos chicas desfilan una gran cantidad de personajes que parten de estereotipos, y que son fácilmente identificados a los pocos diálogos. Tenemos entre otros un un hilarante mulleto, amante de la libertad, las artes marciales y el rock americano. Una profesora de arte que se presenta a sí misma con un corto titulado espejo-padre-espejo. Está rodado en blanco y negro y en él se muestran escaleras y muñecas mutiladas acompañadas de una banda sonora minimalista, lo que expresa claramente todo lo que ella es en su interior. También aparece una chica especializada en mantener conversaciones insipidas en las que busca resultar agradable plagándo cada palabra con sonrisas falsas y gestos exajerados. Pero mientras lo fácil sería limitarse a estos estereotipos de raritos, capitanes de equipo de fúbol y animadoras los personajes principales los superan y se les dota de complejidad, de una personalidad real.
Supongo que dibujar este mundo fantasma lleno de hipócritas y gilipollas no es nada nuevo pero la gran cantidad de situaciones geniales que se utilizan para ilustrarlo es lo que para mi hace a esta peli tan divertida y corrosiva. Una de mis situaciones favoritas es cuando van a ver a un autentico bluesman ( bueno, en realidad hace ragtime…) al que todo elmundo en el garito ignora, y que es el telonero de un gran grupo de “autentico blues de nueva orleans” pero que resulta ser mierda insulsa que pone a bailar a todo el bar. De lo que he visto creo que es la película que mejor ha sabido plasmar el cinismo de esta sociedad en la que se margina a lo diferente y se glorifica lo mediocre mientras sea agradable. Es por esto, además de por compartir a Thora Birch, por lo que se compara a esta película con American Beauty. Lo cómico y trágico de ambas es que cuando las vemos, todos nos identificamos con el rarito de la videocamara que vende hierba o con la chica rebelde que sabe qué no quiere ser, pero en el día a día actuamos como si quisieramos convertirnos en el triunfador agente inmobiliario
Por suerte en España, aunque nos esforzamos a diario, aún no hemos llegado a la estratificación cultural que estamos acostumbrados a ver entre los jóvenes de las películas yankis. En todas las clases hay un maricón, un gordo y un gafotas: chicos a la que, echando la vista atrás, se insulta cruelmente. Pero no existe esa separacion entre “nerds”, raros, animadoras, deportistas y todo eso. “Perdedor” todavía no es un insulto demasiado usado por aquí.
Sobre los actores, creo que las actuaciones de Thora Birch y Steve Buscemi son muy buenas, sobre todo me encantan los gestos de ella. La mayor parte de la música que aparece es música de ambiente, la que escuchan los personajes, asi que abunda el blues y el punk-rock, aunque las partes melodicas también las encuentro apropiadas y bonitas.
Por último mencionar que la película está basada en un comic de Daniel Clowes que también participó en el guión junto con el director Terry Zwigoff.

Despres vam menjar un segon plat a elegir entre:- llenguado a la salsa se bolets.- confit d’e0nec.Tant els que vam menjar un plat comL’altre els vam trobar bonedssims! Finalment en lloc de fer postre vam pactar amb l’ama del restaurant si ens podien fer un pasteds i la veritat es que ens van acceptar la proposta i el pasteds estava bonedssim. Aquest menfa ens va costar 20€/ persona i ame9s tb incloefa: pa, cafe8s i infusions, vi de la casa, aigua i cava. Realment tot un luxe, vam quedar tant satisfets que aquest proper dissabte hi tornem x dinar. Pd: ens van situar una taula gran i quadrada que va fer possible que tots ens pogue9ssim veure i xerrar tranquil-lament, vam agrair-hoPq era un sopar de feina i ens va ser mes fe0cil la conversa. A me9s la taula estava dintre del reservat del restaurant que oferia un clima edntim ideal x parlar de feina! Tot un luxe! 100% recomanable!
